Writing Practice Guidelines
1. Relax and Enjoy your Creative Process
2. Give yourself Full Freedom in your Writing Practice
Notice when you censor or edit or judge yourself and allow, allow, allow.
3. There are no Mistakes –only "Mystic Aches"
Let yourself be surprised by where your writing takes you.
4. Take this time for expanding and exploring your self-expression.
Products emerge naturally when our creativity is expanded
5. If your words dry up – keep your pen moving with Doodles and Drawings or repetition of one word. The flow will come back!
6. Follow Your "Hot Spots" ~ (Exhilarating, Buzzing, Thrilling, Enthusiastic, Alive Feelings)
7. Notice and Write through "Black Holes" (Stuck, Numb, Dark, Stagnant, Frozen Feelings)
8. Energy moves when we write. You might feel Tears, Laughter, Fears, Worries, Angers, etc. Whatever energy is alive in you–WRITE IT.
9. Get out of Your Head. Practice stretching outside of your Small Mind.
10. Stay aware in your body.
This is a "writers yoga practice" - It's not how far you stretch but that you are aware of stretching your personal edge.)
11. Never mind about spelling or grammar
All that can be cleaned up later
12. Drop your Perfectionism
13. Honor your Uniqueness and Respect the Unique Expression of Others ~Drop Comparisons and Personal Put Downs and Cheer Yourself On
14. Have Fun!
A Few More Tips: To help you get the most benefit from classes.
Sharing Your Writing: Sometimes during Write with Spirit classes we stop to share our writing. Reading out loud allows us to hear our own rhythm, our writers pulse. This is always optional!
Passing: You are never required to share your writing. There are times when we feel raw and exposed through our writing. Together we mine our creative depths and sometimes we hit upon tender places. And sometimes we just want to keep our writing quiet. No reason needed – simply say Pass.
Giving Personal Feedback: In longer classes we interact and share feedback. We ask that you listen for writing that touches your heart, inspires your mind, or in some way is meaningful for you. Share how the writing impacted you.
Submitting Your Writing: Arrangements are made for Writers Choice participants and private consultation clients to submit and share their writing for feedback.
and one more time:
Have Fun and Enjoy!
